It’s all about Groove and SharePoint Workspace

You would like to learn more about SharePoint Workspace. Visit the SharePoint Workspace Community booth C33 on the “Unified Communication & Collaboration” village. We are planning some demos and also a contest with a full set of great prizes!

I will be speaker tomorrow (Wednesday 10th) at TechDays on a session dedicated to SharePoint Workspace
In about 1 hour, I will explain SharePoint Workspace uses cases, features and capabilities.

In February, the SharePoint Workspace French User Group lead a survey focused on SharePoint Workspace. The goal is to better understand uses cases, but also to collect information about what people like, dislike or would like in this product. At the end of this period, consolidated information will be sent to each participant.

Microsoft TechDays France are starting this monday at Paris  (From Feb 8th, to Feb 10th). As Office 2010 launch will take place this year, a full set of sessions, demos, contests, are dedicated to this topic. Of course, SharePoint Workspace 2010 will be part of it!

In the first days of 2010, the French Speaking Groove Community evolved to be aligned on the new name of Groove 2010. The User Group is now called “SharePoint Workspace Community“. A new name also means a new design. So, the logo and website were both redesigned. If the current URL (http://www.groovons.org) still perfectly works, a new one has also be choosen : http://www.spw2010.fr.

I got an email few days ago announcing that my MVP award was renewed for 2010.
Thanks to everyone who – directly or indirectly – contributed to this renewal.

In 2010, I will follow-up actions done for years now, to promote Groove and SharePoint Workspace. With Office 2010 launch in few months, there will be a lot to do and to say! See you soon!

Workspace Dashboard: a single place to manage offline and online collaboration with Microsoft Office SharePoint and Microsoft Office Groove. HOMMES & PROCESS is launching a new Groove Workspace solution called Workspace Dashboard. How does it work?

The main site enables users to search for existing projects and easily view the most recent changes. A collaborator can join a project or create a new one when this is an authorized option. A new project involves the creation of a new SharePoint project site and a new Groove Workspace. The project manager will then be able to invite his/her team members, assign them roles and give them access to the SharePoint site or to the Groove workspace(s) or both. 

Each project site allows working with documents, files and/or business forms. These data are synchronized in the corresponding Groove workspace. Also workspace member management can be handled by project: member invitations, role assignments, project access management. According to the project requirements and defined user rights, a project member can work within the SharePoint project site or within Groove workspaces. When a project has terminated, it can be closed and archived. When needed, a project can be easily restored on request.
 

The Groove workspace reflects the content of the SharePoint site. It enables mobile and offline use. Additional tools are available if needed for mobile users.

The social mapping tool can help Human Resources departments identify the links between users, learn about who is working with whom, view the most successful projects and identify expert profiles within the organization. This kind of valuable information translated into graphical schemes can help make the right decisions when dealing with Human Resources.

 
A capacity planning functionality is available to help managers, analyze application use, plan the resources needed to make it work better and make sure users get the required service level at controlled costs.
