It’s all about Groove and SharePoint Workspace

From Feb 10th to Feb 12th, Microsoft TechDays 2009 will take place at Paris. 3 days to discover new Microsoft technologies and products. Of course, it will be a good opportunity to learn more about Groove :

- Hommes & Process will have a booth on the collaboration & communication village. Demonstrations and Q/A about Groove usages and architecture are on the agenda. You will discover new versions of our GrooveIT! products.

- The French Speaking Groove Community will also have its own booth. The right place to discover Groove and exchange tips and tricks on the best way to use the product.

- Finally, I will be speaker on 2 sessions dedicated to Groove. The first one will focus on Dev and Integration capabilities provided by Groove technologies. The second one will be more usages driven. I will illustrate some use case and demo how Groove can be integrated more other products.

SB  Chatterjee, Groove MVP, was speaker last week at the Western Mass .NET Users Group. He provided attendees with a global overview of Groove development capabilities, covering Groove Forms, Web Services, Databridge and SharePoint integration topics.

As already said in a previous posting, I will be next week, from Nov 10th to Nov 14th, at Barcelona at TechED Developer. If you would like to meet, I will spend most of my time on the Office booth. On Friday, I will also be speaker on a session dedicated to Groove : “How to integrate and extend Groove”. It will cover all capaibilities provided by the Groove 2007 platform to create custom applications or integrate with other BackOffice systems. It will be also a great opportunity to demo NabazGame and NabazGroove.

From Nov 10th to Nov 14th, I will be at Barcelona for Microsoft TechED.

Like last year, you will be able to find me on the Groove booth.

How to extend and integrate Groove

This session will provide attendees with a global overview of available methods to extend Groove capabilities. Using Forms, we will explain how to create customized applications for your Groove workspaces. We will also explain how to integrate Groove with external applications such as SharePoint or to create secured distributed applications. The session will be illustrated by several demos…Some of them will be Business oriented, others will be more playful!  

During a session dedicated to Groove development at Microsoft TechDays – Paris in February, I illustrated my presentation by developing in live an application to manage team tasks. This application enable to create tasks, affect each task to a team member, edit task’s description and status and delete a task when complete. This tasks are displayed on user windows’ desktop as post-it™ and use Groove to store and synchronize data.

With this approach, we are able to create a shared and distributed application, with a “real time” behaviour, and benefit from Groove features : offline access, cross-firewall, easy synchronisation…etc

Few days after this session, I got several feedbacks of Groove users interested by this application. At this stage, it’s only a prototype… but based on user’s feedbacks, i will maybe spend time to work again on this first version to improve it….
